27. Living in Palm Coast, Florida. Completely self taught, so no school and no training.
Currently shooting with a Canon 400d [digital slr], but in the past i've uesd a Canon 10d
Nikon d100, Nikon N80 and a few vintage film cameras. I love my dog, my cats, my
girlfriend of 9 years, my family and the color green. [Not in that order.]
The images. Some are film, some are digital. Some are "altered", some are not.
I hate putting titles to my images, but when i do they usually mean little to nothing
at all. My images are meant to be whatever you think they are, not what i tell you.
Sort of like choose your own adventure books, only it's choose your own backstory
instead. And so i prefer to present them to you at face value and nothing more, that
way you can react in whatever way you will, without my influencing you with an
explanation of why [or how] i've done what i did and what it all "means".
[In the new gallery set up i've had to revert back to titling images for the sake of
it being easier for people when it comes to print orders or what have you. I sort of
go with whatever seems right at the moment i have to think up the stupid title, and
usually it has nothing to do with my original reason or idea for taking the image.
IF there was an original idea or concept to begin with, because lots of times
there isn't.]
The site. I did it all myself, besides some coding for certain effects i got from
online resources. It's usually marked in the code what came from where. Please
don't take ALL my code though, because it's not nice. All images are mine, i worked
hard on them, they are the only thing thats brings in money for me right now, so i'd
appreciate you not taking those either. At least not in the sense of not giving me
credit and claiming they are your own. Also, hotlinking is evil. If you don't know
what hotlinking is, look it up, and if you do hotlink, feel guilty. And stop.
Immediately. Unless you wish to start contributing to my [or other people's] monthly
hosting fees.
History.
I fell in love with photography as a fluke when i was 10, but didn't start really
making images until i was a teenager. It was an outlet, a way to deal with things
and calm down. Even then it wasn't photography in a traditional sense. First i would
turn my scanner on it's side and take self portraits that way. Then we got a free
webcam from our internet provider and i used that to capture stills. All these images
would immediately be put online, included in the online journal i kept. The positive
response i got spurred me on. Eventually, when i was 20, we spent 100$ for a less
than 1mp camera. Around 21 i got my first film camera, and though it was fully
automatic it was still frustrating because i had grown too accustomed to instant
gratification. At 22 i started stealing my "mother in laws" 2mp digital fuji and
that when i really started to set up little shoots and "create", so to speak. It was
still mostly self portraits, though friends and family would participate too. At 23
a nikon d100 was bought for me and that's when it all really started. From then on
it was less 'just for fun', or to use instead of a therapist, or to cure boredom,
and more my seriously trying to be a photographer.
I consider myself an artist the internet made. It molded me and propelled me farther
than i would have gone without the resources and support system it gave me. I am
still not the best technical photographer, the way i started out kind of ruined me a
little in that way. But at the same time i feel it allowed me to go where i wanted
with my ideas without any fear. I'm working on it though.
I also consider myself an amateur. 100%. Lots of people feel otherwise, and i
appreciate that, but i know i still have a lot to learn. So i am not really the
person to come to for guidance or help.
And I will be honest and say that i don't consider myself to have been a "cam girl"
at the beginning, and i don't always appreciate having been labeled as that. I'm not
saying there is anything wrong with it, but all cam girls are created egual. =) I
didn't put on live shows for people, i didn't document my life with it, i simply
used it as a way to take pictures during a time i didn't have a camera to do so. And
yes, i take a lot of self portraits. I do now, i always have, i probably always will.
It's not for attention, it's because it is convenient. I am the only one around at
3am when my head is going crazy with ideas and i can't sleep. I also know how to
give myself what i want. [Plus some ideas i have seem too cruel to do to other
people.] But i try my hardest to not look the same in every shoot, and prefer to
work with other people over myself. Honestly, i don't even see myself as the girls
in the pictures. I am more in character, and typically don't look anything like the
photo's day to day.
And that's about it. For now, at least.
