2010 In Images
I was dreading putting together this past years batch of images, thinking i'd end up banging my head into a wall with disappointment, but all in all i'm pleasantly surprised. I don't think i can say a lot of it is my Best Work Ever, and i certainly didn't accomplish all i had hoped, but it was a really hard, really long year and in a sometimes secret, sometimes not, way, every bad thing from this past year is included in this group of images. And while those things are now going to be around forever to haunt me, which kinda sucks, it makes it a very personal group of images, and so i guess it makes me more attached to a whole lot of them.
I tried to include at least one new [to you guys] image from each shoot, and given that i've given myself the task of posting at least one image a week this year, you'll see some of them full sized eventually. [I'm aiming for one a day, even if it's old and reworked or an outtake or something, but that seems like too much to ask of myself already, given i can go months without shooting anything. We'll see i guess!]
Also: two things. In the 3rd and 2nd to last rows are a few pictures from our surprise day trip to Chicago for my sister's 17th birthday. It was her first time on a plane, if i'm not mistaken her first time in an airport, first time in a big city, first time out of our time zone, first time ice skating on real ice, first time in a real art museum, and first time seeing and being in snow. While those weren't firsts for Bri and I, it didn't really matter, it was like experiencing it all for the first time again because of how excited she was, and it made us unbelievably happy to be able to give all that to her. AND we managed to keep it the trip a secret until she got to the airport [she thought it was going to be a road trip] and then the final destination a secret till we got on our connecting flight. [I SUCK at keeping secrets, so i'm super proud of myself.] I included those because it was the best/happiest day of the year, and quite possibly our lives so far. Seriously.
And the very last image is an outtake from the last shoot of the year, also with my sister. She's smiling and being a goofball and if there is anything i want from 2011 it's to see her like that more often.
