Inspired/Mixed media ideas/Mumbo jumbo
After all those shoots in a row, cramming in as many ideas as possible into each, and then having some of the images show me that i don't always work best that way, i felt i needed to step back and take a breather. So that's what i've been doing. Still shooting, but mostly just me, because while it's not my most favorite thing to do, it's a heck of a lot less stressful.
At the same time, not having immediate shoots to plan and stress for has kinda let my mind go nuts and i'm having a hard time deciding which direction to go in next. I just can't figure out what my 'happy medium' is going to be. I'm definitely not complaining though. I remember what it's like to be lost with no fantastic idea in sight, and i don't want to be there right now! But having the freedom to do whatever, whenever, is definitely a double edged sword at times, especially when you have what seems like a million ideas, all calling to you with equal strength, and you just can't choose! And then when you try to shoot them you stress yourself to the point you ruin half of it. Woe is me. =)
I'm pretty sure i'll get tired of myself and schedule a shoot with someone else soon enough. Though for now i really need to get my FTP working and/or a new web host figured out so i can send everyone the images i owe them!
Also need to figure out what to do about the trash can we may or may not have stolen from the neighbor and whether ours was stolen or replaced by somebody. [There has been a lot of trash/recycling weirdness going on. It's just bizarre.]
Anyways! I've been thinking *alot* about doing more mixed media stuff, especially since working on the memory collector series, and/or having a specific shooting challenge for myself, basically in the vein of what brilliant/lovely Sara Lando has been doing. Which you can see [here], but these are some of my favorites:
Every time she posts a new one i get all giddy and inspired. Granted, i'm a sucker for pretty much all the things she uses, but yeah. =) [I really love cardboard. I dunno why, but i do. Years ago i made a layout for my website using cardboard, dirt, an old slip, torn plastic, coffee stains, etc. and then scanned it. It's making me nuts because i can't find a copy anywhere.]
And it's actually a group thing, but it's an italian group, so i don't know if i should try and put together an english one or just sit here and hope someone else does or what. Not sure how go-getter i'm feeling right now. Or ever. I'll think about it at least. Probably for a really long time.
